2008 FOOSE COUPE! This is THE car that launched Chip Foose' stardom. He designed the Foose Coupe while at Art Center in 1990, resulting in numerous awards and contracts. Revolutionary in design, Chrysler bought the design and used it as the rough basis for the Prowler. But the Prowler is clearly not what Chip had in mind from his original vision and he always wanted to build the car as it was originally intended - in his words - 'part Supercar, part Muscle Car, part Hot Rod'. It took 16 years for Chip to build the dream, but he finally did (the green one), which launched to great fanfare at SEMA 06'. A second one (black) was built for a private investor (rumored at $650,000) and then Chip and Metalcrafters decided to build a limited run of 50. The endeavor was unusual for the builders, who are committed to one-off craftsmanship that is second to none. What they found is that the requisite process made it impossible to streamline into savings in production time and expense. Frankly, streamlining is just not Chip's style. As a result of enormous cost overruns and reluctance to cut any corner, the concept of producing 50 was abandoned and production was halted to just 5 (including the first 2), despite continued demand. This car for sale required 1.5 years of production, five times the initial budget. This is #4 of 5, and 1 of only 3 HEMI-powered versions (6.4L). The original green HEMI is still owned by Chip. The 5th Coupe was rumored to sell for 350K as a rolling chassis (no engine), a low price that would have only made sense if they could have built 50 and found synergies to production. All other build orders were canceled. As a result, this is a far more limited prototype than was intended, greatly enhancing collectability! The body of this Coupe is entirely carbon fiber and every part of this car is custom hand-crafted from the spindles to the curved glass above the cockpit to the dash gauges. No exterior door handles or interior buttons of any kind. All are hidden and trick, leaving a fresh clean look that is pure Foose! The starter button is disguised as the Foose emblem on the dash and the doors are opened via hidden buttons below rear-view mirrors! The level of detail is everything you'd expect and more from a car that Chip was involved in!
