1995 Mustang Cobra R - “The Rosie’s Diner Car”
(with original short block on a cradle)
#4 of 250…..This is one of the lowest numbered 95R available, this is the second 95R offered to the public for sale. This car has a unique history in addition to having an extremely low production number. I am the third owner of this vehicle.
Cobra R #4 was originally owned by a prominent Ford dealer in Michigan and he raced the car locally in SCCA race events from 1995-2001. In order to ensure the car would remain ‘complete’ later in life, he wisely pulled the original short block out of the car and put it in storage, he replaced it with a mild 377 c.i. race engine. His most famous race was the 1995 Cannonball One Lap of America Race in which it finished 10th in the SGT1 Class, 12th overall.
Cobra R #4 is noted for being “The Rosie's Diner car”, photos of it can be found in the first edition of the SVT Recognition Guide by Tom Schreiner (page 104). The VIN number of this car can be verified as CORRECT in the VIN listing on page 176 of the SVT Recognition Guide mentioned above. The build date on this car was 2/16/95.
The #4 95R has been restored back (new paint) to its past glory when it was raced in the One Lap of America. Mileage: 16,784 miles. The car has been well maintained over the years and is in EXCELLENT CONDITION! This entire car was recently repainted (3/08) in the correct Ford Crystal White clear coat. There is one scratch in the paint on the driver’s side A pillar.
The car is currently set up as it was raced in the One Lap of America. The current set up is:
- race prepped 351 with a 377 CI Probe Stroker kit
- GT 40 aluminum swirl heads
- hydraulic roller cam
- extrude honed intake
- The motor produces approximately 340hp to the wheels and 390 ft/lbs of torque.
suspension:
- 850-1000 lb front springs
- Global West control arm bushings
- 355:1 gear set
- New Brembo front rotors and pads (race and street pads)
- brake ducting to the front brakes
- NITTO 555 tires on the original Forgeline Racing wheels
interior:
- Steeda Tri-Ax short throw shifter
- Optima Battery and trunk relocation kit
- Electric cut off switch located on the driver’s side of the roll bar
- 4 pt. Roll Bar
- Fire extinguisher (mounted on floor in front of passenger seat)
Documents available include two window stickers, the original MSO, SVT owners certificate, the KONI shock adjusting tool and instruction packet unopened, all special SVT mailings, certificate of originality and most of the racing results and racing photographs. Additional parts inventory (R specific) for sale separately.
Car is located in northwestern NC. Please contact: John McMahon
