Description:

The Certain Sound, Authored by John Wyer. Many facinating insights to the behind the scenes politics and negotiations and racing between three of the most important car manufactures of the 50's, 60s and 70's. He started with Aston Martin almost from the begining, and winning LeMans in 1959 with Carroll Shelby then his own operation with the Ford Mirages, then to Porsche with the 917s.
Many chapters are devoted to the Ford GT40s, originally with Ford Backing untill Ford made a deal with him giving him many leftover parts and cars which he then had assembled and to his specs running a small block instead of the 427. The mirages were very succesfull winning Lemans in 1968 and 69. Chapters 8 thru 16 cover the Ford GT40s thru to the Mirages wins at le Mans.
Porsche then hired him to assist them with their new racer the 917, which was also very succesfull.
A lot of private information dealing with the negotiatons between the various racing teams from Aston, Ford and Porsche. All in all one of the best books ever printed about motor racing. Rare.
This book is in excellent condiotion, 1st edition printed in 1981. Size, 8.75"x 11". about 255 pages, hardbound. The book is almost perfect, the cover has one small tear on the outside edge about one inch long, hardly visable.
Price,$350.00 obo, Shipping is extra.
