Factory Original Ford XF170429 Transistorized GT40 Tach Drive Distributor.
To my knowledge, this one is the earlier Sand Cast version. Believe this Ignition probably came of a 1965 (used Dual Point Ignitions before 1965) or early 1966 MK1 or MK2. But also possibly of the later MK3 or 1967 XE engine cars. Besides being used on GT40's, they where also used on Cobra's, Shelby's, other Mustangs, Mercury Cougar's, Trans-Am and other factory Ford built Race Cars.
Other part number stamped on this ignition is G 85. Distributor appears to be in good condition, spins freely without any play in the shaft. Very nice condition, as can be seen in the photos. Have not cleaned it to preserve originality. Have owned this ignition for many years. Bought it and other very rare Ignitions from a friend who used to work for Ford R&D, Shelby and Holman & Moody during the late 1960's and early 1970's.
