Description: (FYI...THERE'S A LINK AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS LISTING TO 138 PHOTOS TAKEN DURING THE BUILD OF THIS COBRA)

FOR SALE BY OWNER...IN HOUSTON,TX

1965 BACKDRAFT RACING ROADSTER #340

VIN # AA9BMAAHV51CN1136

MILES: 2,027

REFLEX SILVER WITH GHOST RACING RONDELLS & STRIPES

(THIS IS A VERY RARE COLOR COMBINATION...AND WITH THE MATCHING PAINTED RACING RONDELLS...I GET LOADS OF COMPLIMENTS EVERYWHERE I PARK...THIS COBRA IS A SHOW STOPPER...AND WITH A ROUSH RACING ENGINE...THE EXHAUST NOTE IS AWESOME!)

OBVIOUSLY NOT YOUR AVERAGE BACKDRAFT COBRA...THIS WAS A VERY EXPENSIVE BUILD...WITH A FULL BINDER OF DOCUMENTATION...90 PAGES OF RECEIPTS & PHOTOS COMES WITH THIS COBRA!!

VEHICLE HISTORY:

I'm a 59 year old retired Porsche dealer, and it's time to sell my favorite automotive playtoy. I acquired this Roush powered Backdraft Roadster on 10/27/2007 with 1,010 miles. This Cobra was traded to me towards a brand new Porsche 997 by the original owner, and I have retained the car ever since that time. The car was originally sold by Jay at Vintage Motorsports in Middletown, Connecticut & was completed on 5/12/2006. I have the complete build history and all documentation including 90 pages of laminated invoices and build pictures. This Cobra has always been serviced by factory trained Porsche technicians and been lovingly cared for and hand washed and hand waxed on a regular basis.

TITLE INFORMATION:

I have copies of all previous registration & title documents. This Cobra was originally titled in Florida as a 1965 Roaster. It is currently titled in Kansas as a 2005 Special Manufacture vehicle (the rolling chassis was invoiced to Vintage Motorsports on 11/11/2005 per the MSO). I still have a laminated copy of the original MSO. The MSO states it is a 1965 vehicle...and thus many States will allow it to be titled as a antique 1965 vehicle. (THE TITLE IS FREE & CLEAR WITH NO LIENS)

FACTORY OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT:

Roush Racing Polished 402R (#124)...500 Horsepower...515 Foot-pounds of Torque...
Tremec TKO-600 with .68 OD (#BG10 0200)...
Limited Slip Differential Upgrade (3.91 Gearset)...
Lakewood Steel Safety Bellhousing ...Mcleod Clutch Package...
Ceramic Coated Headers & Side-pipes...
Oil Cooler with Shroud...Remote Billet Oil Filter Mount...10 AN Lines & Fittings...
Roush Oval Air Cleaner Assembly...
Drilled & Slotted Brembo Brake Rotor Upgrade...
Halon Engine Fire Suppression System with Trunk Mounted Halon reservoir...
17" Knockoff Alloy Wheels with Polished Lips...
Vinyl Soft Top & Frame (no side windows)
Chrome Ray Dyot Style Mirrors...both driver & passenger side...
Chrome Fire Extinguisher Mounted in ****pit...
3M Clear Vinyl Paint Protection on Rear Quarters
Clear Front Indicator Lens...

OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT I HAVE INSTALLED:

1). The lips on the 17" alloys are hard to keep polished all the time. My solution was to ship the wheels to a wheel specialist in California. I had the wheels chrome plated...but the centers were refinished (utilizing a special process) in the original grey paint...so now the Cobra is equipped with chrome wheel lips...with original Halibrand style grey centers. The total cost of this project was more than $3,000...but the wheels now are always in show condition!

2). Brand new knockoff spinners were installed when the wheels were upgraded.

3). Akebono ceramic brakes pads were fitted for better brake feel...with no squeaks...and very low dust for clean alloy wheels...

4). Ford Motorsport Chrome Valve Covers...

5). Moto-Lite style classic wood steering wheel...

6). Proper Cobra 427SC style shifter...with new shift knob...

7). The fixed passenger seat was removed...and adjustable seat tracks were installed...this cost more than $500 to accomplish...

8). Per Jay at Vintage Motorsports recommendations...an improved turn signal assembly was installed...

9). To give the interior a more authentic look...new Lucas toggle switches were installed...5 hour job to modify the dash to accept the switches...but the results were worth it!

10). The factory ignition switch was upgraded with a new heavy duty ignition switch assembly...

11). Upgraded Polished thermostat housing & new thermostat.

12). Hella Halogen headlights for safer night time driving...

13). Amber rear turn signal lenses for an extra margin of safety...

14). Super bright LED cluster brake bulbs...again for an extra margin of safety...

15). Upgraded rear license tag holder...

16). OPTIMA RedTop High Performance Leak-Proof Battery...

I'm sure there are several item that have slipped my memory....but...I've spent at least 100 hours...and more than $6,000.00 upgrading this BACKDRAFT ROADSTER!!

RECENT SERVICE HISTORY & CURRENT CONDITION:

1). Transmission fluid service & updated internal shifting stops. This service was performed by James Yale of Radical Roadsters of Texas (our local authorized Backdraft dealer)...and a Tremec transmission specialist. It cost $750 to service & update the transmission..

2). Synthetic oil & filter change...

3). Clutch bleed & refill with Valvoline synthetic Dot 3 & 4 fluid...

4). Coolant flush...and replace coolant expansion cap...

5). Regular polishing of exterior...

6). Regular conditioning of leather seats with Lexol conditioner...

7). New headlight relay...

This Backdraft Cobra is in beautiful condition...everything operates correctly...and is ready for immediate enjoyment!

This Cobra includes (2) complete sets of keys...and a 90 page owner's manual with all original build documents & photographs...

MORE THAN $62K WAS SPENT BUILDING THIS COBRA!!

PRICED TO SELL...$41,500

Randy,

Is this car still for sale? If yes, how are driver ergonomics? Are they stock Backdraft? I'm in the market but am 6'3 250 and that is a concern.

Thanks,

Bob

Bob,

I'm close to a sale...will know in the next several days...

I'm 6'2/175 pounds...I've adjusted the seat tracks for maximum leg room...you will have a tight fit in any Cobra...the Backdraft has more legroom than my Superformance did...this is my second Brackdraft...and it's more comfortable than the first...steering wheel position is more forgiving in this Backdraft...
