Description:

This is a 427SC Cobra kit car that was originally built in 1992 by Classic Roadsters Ltd. in South Dakota (but they closed in 2001). The sub-frame is from a Mustang-II but with a lot of modification. I purchased it in 2004 from the original owner that kept it in a museum. I only drive it on sunny days, when I am not busy doing other things, so that is very seldom. However, I love to tinker so this is always kept in immaculate condition and very mechanically maintained. I am a Master ASE tech with over 30 years in the automotive industry. I previously owned an automotive shop but have been in the automotive education field for the last 2 decades. I mention that so you know that the car has been built and maintained the "right" way. I keep it under a cover in my garage. I keep it up on blocks in the winter. This car runs, drives and sounds awesome!!
Here is the list of options on the car:
Total miles on odometer: 5,835
Drivetrain: ENGINE: As you can see from the pics, the engine initially appears to be a Ford because of the COBRA valve covers and air cleaner. But this is a very well built Chevy 350. The original owner lost the build sheet so I really have no idea of the exact engine parts specs. But I can tell you that it has high compression and is very strong. I completely redesigned the rest of the engine compartment to be more functional and appealing. It has HEI ignition, an Edelbrock 650cfm carb with low-rise manifold, all new hoses with steel-braided lines, a new high-torque gear-reduction starter, and a large manually switched cooling fan with reconditioned custom radiator. This engine starts immediately and NEVER overheats.
TRANS: I installed a new Tremec 5-speed in 2010. I get much better mpg now. DIFF: This has a Ford 9-inch straight axle with posi-traction.
SUSPENSION: In 2008, I installed all new: complete front coil-over suspension system with adjustable shocks, 4-wheel adjustable ride-height springs, 4-wheel disc brakes, 5-lug wheels with 5x4.5 bolt pattern, custom designed Centerline wheels with wide pattern directional tires. The tires have less than 400 miles on them so far.
INTERIOR: The seats are the original black leather. It also has the original black carpet. However, this kit does have three RARE options... a tilt steering wheel, glove box and a heater!! It has the original VDO gauge set with fuel, oil pressure, coolant temp, tach and speed. I also installed a new stereo system with amplifier and alarm system.
This car has the DMV "SB100" sticker so that it is not required to have the CA biennial smog inspection.
The car had been appraised for $44,000 in 2004, but that was before I invested another $10,000 in parts. The fee for a re-appraisal would be $300. I would be willing to either discount my price for that fee or pay the fee after receiving a down-payment.
The reason that I am selling it is because I need to pay for my kids college tuition next month.
THIS IS A GREAT CAR AT A GREAT PRICE!! It won't last long at this price.
