Factory Five Racing roadster # 5462 is for sale. I built this car planning to drive all over the two lanes of Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin, where I lived at the time. However, now I live in Northern New Jersey, 15 miles from NYC. It’s just not the same on I80. So, time for this car to go to a new home, where it’ll get the use it deserves.
This car is very nearly new with 462 miles on the clock since it was completed November of 2008. Since that time it’s been in my heated garage under its cover. It holds an Illinois title as a 1965 Factory Five.
It starts and runs great, has plenty of power and sounds awesome. There are a few small things that are still to be either finished or fine tuned. One wiper transmission needs some adjustment; it slips a little on the drive cable. The cruise control cable needs to be hooked to the carb and the cruise tested. The lift-a-dot snaps need to be installed in the tonneau cover. I’ll include the special tools for this along with the car. The carb seems a bit rich, and I think could stand to be tuned. I aligned this car with a FasTrax alignment tool and it goes down the road great, however I would have a pro alignment done if I were keeping it. Since the paint was done originally, the trunk lid has developed some picturing where the original hinge mounting holes were. If I were keeping it I would have the trunk lid re-shot.
The engine was built freshly from the ground up using the ’93 donor block. The block had 63,000 original miles and didn’t even have a ridge to cut, it was in beautiful shape. The transmission and pressure plate are from the same car; all new seals are in the trans. It shifts perfectly. The differential from the same donor was totally rebuilt with 3.55:1 Ford gears and all new seals and clutch packs. The brake booster, front calipers and spindles are from the donor also. Everything else on the car is brand new. Most of the hardware used in construction was stainless steel, the only tapping screws in the body are lift-a-dot studs on the top of the dash. Everything else through the body is a machine screw with washer and nut.
This car has many custom touches, too many to list them all. I have a ton of build pics, receipts and diagrams of electrical systems. I'm happy to respond to any questions you might have.
Price is $ 39,000.
