Model: FFR Challenge Series Cobra Mark II Roadster

This 2004 FFR Challenge Series Cobra Roadster was acquired by the seller a year ago out of Tennessee from a current FFR Challenge Series racer. The car has been owned by two other racers over its life and maintained in ready to race condition. Modification done by the previous owner were to bring the car up to the current FFR Challenge Series performance improvement specifications. These include adding Trick Flow Twisted Wedge heads, intake manifold and valve covers, stage 1 roller cam, 70mm throttle body and 24lbs fuel injectors and relocating the front suspension and rack and pinion steering mounting points. The engine went through a complete rebuild in 2012 to add the above performance improvement kit. Its is now being offered with some receipts from the previous owner, as well as the original MSO. This car has only been used as a race car and a track day car and therefore has never been titled. The car can be titled in the new owners state if desired. And can be licensed as a street car in most states with the addition of a windshield and head lights. These items are available from various aftermarket accessory houses. The electrical wiring and switches for the head lights are already installed. The mounting locations for the windshield are also provided.

The car has manual hydraulic Ford disk brakes per the Challenge Series rules with Hawk performance brake pads and stainless steel braided brake lines on all four wheels. Front rotors are 12" and rears are 9.5". 17x10" Mickey Thompson aluminum wheels are fitted with almost new Toyo Proxes 255/40ZR17 tires that have only seen one track day.

Front suspension includes unequal length competition tubular upper and lower front A-arms and ball joints. The rear suspension is a competition FFR special 3 link system including a Ford Motorsports 8.8" differential with 3.27 gears and Trac-Loc. FFR Challenge Series gas filled shocks and Eibach springs are used all around.

The engine was treated to a complete rebuild in 2012 when the FFR Challenge Series Performance upgrade was installed. This included adding Trick Flow Twisted Wedge cylinder heads, Trick Flow fuel injection intake manifold and a stage 1 camshaft. A new 70mm throttle body was added as well as new 24 lb fuel injectors. The entire engine was freshened up with new bearings, gaskets and other typical rebuild parts. The engine has a March serpentine alternator/water pump/power steering belt system. The car has a set of Ford Motorsports shorty exhaust headers and FFR Challenge Series side mufflers. The car is equipped with a multi row aluminum radiator and a thermostatically controlled electric fan. The car also has a remote oil filter system to improve accessibility. A Ford Motorsports T-5 transmission is used per Challenge Series rules. A McLeod steel safety bell housing, SFI SPEC 6.1, is provided to protect from clutch and fly wheel problems. A 9 quart, Milodon road racing oil pan is provided to eliminate engine oil starvation during race conditions. An Allstar engine oil catch can is provided to accumulate oil vapor. A K&N engine air filter is also provided.

Interior of the car is strictly race car using a full FFR Challenge Series safety cage, aluminum interior panels, a Kirkey race seat and Schroth competition 5 point seat belts. The steering wheel has a quick release system to facilitate entry and exit. Wilwood brake and clutch pedal system, as well as dual brake reservoirs are provided. A full complement of gauges are provided by Pro-Comp. A Firecharger.com fire suppression system covers the drivers compartment, engine compartment as well as the fuel cell area. This system can be actuated by a single switch in the cockpit. An engine and battery safety cut off switch is also located in the cockpit. A brake balance adjuster is also located in the cockpit for on track chassis tuning.

The battery is located in the trunk for better weight distribution. The trunk area is also the location of the a Fuel Safe fuel cell and electric fuel pump. The trunk is also the location for the Race Keeper track data and video system. This data system uses two video cameras, one facing forward and one facing aft. Also a GPS systems logs your lap times in conjunction with the videos. This data can be down loaded onto a memory card and can be viewed on your laptop computer and posted on FaceBook.

The bodywork is reinforced fiberglass, typical race and track car. Minor scratches and chips from active track racing are present. The FFR Challenge Series bodies come as a two piece body which splits at the cockpit forming a front body half and a rear body half. This allows for a quick removal of either body half for service or a quick system check at the track. Front and rear flat toe mounts are provided to comply with race and track day safety toeing requirements.
