NAF (North American Fiberglass) 289 slabside FIA replica
Originally built and owned by my late Father, Rick Parker (well known here on CC), this 289 replica carries its own story. Purchased out of Hayward in 1986, originally a warmed over 302 - C4-equipped demo car, this Cobra was COMPLETELY rebuilt in 2009, with speed agility and authenticity in mind. Perhaps one of the most authentic 289 FIA replicas, it continues to turn heads to this day. Original chassis was married with newer technologies, including extended wheelbase, 1 over original, Mustang II front suspension, coupled with Penske coilovers, making maintenance simple and affordable. Entire frame was powdercoated gloss black and still holds up well. Rear suspension components include, the Penske coilovers and 4-link/Panhard bar arrangement. 4-wheel disc Braking is handled by a fresh Aerospace Mustang II 12 front kit and custom Aerospace/Wilwood 11 setup, including all new braided stainless hoses, calipers, rotors and pads. Tilton pedal box with 3 fresh 74-series master cylinders (preventative maintenance). The current 289 speaks loudly and carries a big stick, through a set of custom fabricated, satin black Jet Hot coated equal-length headers and side pipes. The exhaust note is unmistakable! If you enjoy calm conversation during drives this is NOT the car for you. The Holley 650 DP 4-barrell, provides for easy starts, great reliability, and throttle response. MSD 6AL ignition, coil and Taylor wires provide the spark. Under the period-correct FIA valve covers, Crower steel rebuildable rockers keep valvetrain dancing. Moving to the spartan cockpit as it is affectionately known, Stewart Warner period-correct gauges provide current stats. Latch and link lapbelts, no radio, no A/C, no airbags (we die like men!) this car is super fun to drive! Located outside of Sacramento, CA, priced to move at $45,000 obo. Car would be double this to replicate.
