Hello,
I recently got a Manx and was looking for another set of wheels/tires as a back up. My Manx has wheel adapters...4 lug VW to 5 x 4 3/4"
I found this set taken off a Cobra. I needed a spare set of wheels on short notice with their characteristics, so jumped on them.
I have since been researching the wheels and finding out a bit more about them.
Wheels: 15" Black, Compomotive, 3 piece, all 4 Spinners. Clean without any damage or curbing. Tires are 12 years olds (Date Code: 1411) and look to be in very good condition.
Not an expert on wheels, did my best to figure out the dimensions/backspacing.
* Rear is a 'NB500'. 15" Diameter x 11"W, 5" backplate with net 4 1/2 backspacing (or so). Depth of front of wheel is 5 1/2 (wheel lip to face of face of wheel lug surface).
* Front is a 'HB500'. 15" Diameter x 9"W, 4" backplate with net 3 1/2" backspacing (or so). Depth of front of wheel is 3 1/2 - 4" (wheel lip to face of face of wheel lug surface).
Mounted BFGs are in excellent shape and look to be properly balanced. Very little even wear, has whiskers on edges.
I had them along but didn't need them thankfully. After doing some reading up on them, maybe someone out there looking for these. From what I've read, Compomotive quit selling these 15" wheels and spinners many years ago which would explain why there aren't a lot of them for sale.
I staged them next to the Manx and they look pretty good if I needed them, but there are a lot of options with this wheel pattern. I'd hate to have them hoarded away if someone else was really needing them. Makes little difference to me as they are spares to me. Would appreciate f someone could give me an idea of their desirability or value. I'm less concerned about selling them than knowing what they are worth. I wouldn't want to take them off-roading if the wheels were of any significance.
I hadn't really planned on posting, so apologize if pics aren't great. Thanks, Dan
