Description: After much discussion I've decided that it's time to part ways with the Cobra. This was a bucket list purchase that didn't start out as a Cobra purchase. This money was originally earmarked for a beautiful white Testarossa that I flew out to LV to see. I never made it past the Shelby factory. I bought this instead. So now that I want a Hellcat, the wife says I need to thin the herd a bit. So here goes.

CSX4780 was purchased from a dealer in Oklahoma, and was delivered at the plant with Kris Kincaid accepting delivery for me. The engine was installed by Kris and then shipped back to Gessford Machine for finishing. The car runs great and all maintenance has been done at Gessford Machine. Any work that was needed has been done by George and the boys. It rolls out nice and strong, sounds great with the side pipes, loud but not too loud until you mash the throttle and let both carbs open up. A friend of mine once described the car as "stupid fast." I've never had it on the track, drag or road. I've had some fun times crusing around in it but now it's time for someone else to enjoy its charms.

Details. Lets start with the engine. I bought the block off ebay. It was an assembled engine from carb to pan. I had it shipped to Gessford Machine in Hastings, NE for George and the boys to tear it down and see if it needed anything. During the tear down process it was discovered that I had found a diamond in the rough. The engine had a ton of great parts. Molodex crank, Crower rods, Diamond pistons, original FE intake and heads. It was decided to replace the Diamond pistons with Arias pistons to drop the compression ratio to a reasonable 10:1 so it would run good on pump gas. The decision was also made to ditch the original iron heads and intake in favor of a set of ported Edelbrock aluminum heads with Dove shaft roller rocker arms, and a Blue Thunder dual quad intake. I also went with a Comp Cams solid roller camshaft with .645/.645 lift. This cam gives the engine a very lopey idle but will idle very happily at 800 rpm or so. Air and fuel are mixed by a pair of Holley carbs topped with Hellings and Stellings chrome air cleaners with K&N filters. Exhaust is handled by a pair of Tom's Motorsports sidepipes with minimal baffling giving the engine a nice rumble at idle and a very nice sounding note at speed. Other notable engine options include Avaid oil pan, CVR high torque starter, Shelby aluminum water pump, March pulleys, ARP fasteners, MSD ignition system, and Shelby valve covers. I have the complete build sheet in an excel spreadsheet and can email to interested parties.

Power is transmitted to the rear by a McLeod Long style racing clutch that is enclosed by Lakewood bell housing. Attached to the bellhousing is a David Kee aluminum case Top-Loader 4 speed transmission shifted by a correct style shifter. The differential has a set of 3.54 gears. This allows for a top speed of around 150mph flat out. The clutch is in excellent shape as the car hasn't had that many miles put on it since I bought it, 1892 per the pictures.

I had the car titled in Oklahoma by the dealer I bought it from to insure that the VIN on the title would say CSX4780 on it and it does. The car is titled here in Iowa as a 1965 Shelby Cobra, VIN CSX4780. I had no problems getting the title transferred or registration so I would imagine the car could go anywhere and get registered the same. The car has been a joy to own and draws attention every time I take it out. I've enjoyed my time with it but as I say, wants dictate the need to sell. Please see the photo gallery in the link to see the pictures of the car.

I'm asking $139,400 or best offer. Any questions feel free to email me at csx4780@mac.com.

Thanks for taking the time to look and read.
