A couple of years ago, a fellow in New Zealand contacted me regarding an original 427 Cobra he had purchased, CSX 3282. I knew the car, having seen it at the VIR Gold Cup event hosted by Carroll Shelby a few years ago. The original owner created a wonderful website all about the car.

This car was particularly fascinating to me because it was so close in production to my car, CSX 3288, and due to the fact that it, too, was very close to original condition and powered by its original 428 PI engine.
Well, the fellow in New Zealand turned out to to be a Canadian who went to the southern hemisphere to seek his fortune and, having done that, he returned to Canada. I got a call from Earl Pfeifer one evening and he asked if he might drop by for a visit with a photographer friend to see my car in person. Well, I thought I was a nut about originality until I met Earl! His attention to detail and his memory for all the bits of info is incredible. He quickly surpassed the expertise that took me over 20 years to acquire (I guess that means I'm a slow learner). Earl has been a wonderful help and a bulldog in seeking out information and details on the original Cobras, in particular the 428 powered cars like 3282 and 3288. He and his friend, Mark Planiden, toured the country looking at 428 powered original Cobras and photographed them in detail.
The mission was to document the cars before they were modified any more, and, now, Mark has produced a gorgeous calendar of his favorite photos of those cars he saw on the tour. This is truly a work of art, not just another Cobra calendar. (I may be slightly biased since CSX 3288 is included, but I don't think so). You can see the calendar at this link: http://planman.net
Thanks to Earl for all his dedication to researching and documenting the details of the 428 powered cars. The RED LEGS article in the front of the calendar is fascinating reading for any Cobra lover. And thanks to Mark and Earl for including 3288!
