For sale is a one of a kind, 2011 custom Factory Five Racing (FFR) MK4 Roadster: the latest Cobra model from the premier Cobra kit carmaker. Everything that could be added has been added. No expense has been spared. The Cobra’s electronics are controlled with the ISIS Intelligent Multiplex System (www.isispower.com). The Cobra was built with power steering, power disk brakes, a hydraulic clutch, air conditioning (A/C), heated seats, and a heater. All lighting was upgraded to halogen lights and LED’s for better visibility and safety. A custom cover and high-end custom convertible top are included.
The total cost of build parts was $73,212.
This Cobra is registered and titled in New Hampshire as a 1965 Cobra with a VIN: NH0011418 and has less than 1.100 miles on the odometer since new in 2011. It is always stored under a car cover in a heated garage.
The car is an excellent and comfortable streetcar and was built with many options to make it an excellent track car if that is one’s desire. These track upgrades include: front and rear anti-sway bars, IFS, IRS with spherical bearing kit, front and rear adjustable Koni coil-over shocks, aluminum rear differential bushings and adjustable IRS arms. The car has not been raced or run on a track, but has been professionally Dyno’d to tune the engine.
The Cobra’s fiberglass bodywork and paint were professionally and meticulously crafted by Metal-Morphous in New Haven, CT. The paint is Ford Blaze Red Metallic paint with multiple clearcoats. The depth and shine of the paint is fantastic. There is a metallic silver center stripes with adjacent ¼” pinstripes outlining custom hood louvers installed on either side of the hood scoop. The inside hood is chrome plated and the inside of the trunk lid is painted red with a continuation of the stripes.
In addition to the high-end Factory Five Racing kit are the following custom additions:
Mechanicals
- The engine is 2010 Ford Mustang GT V8, 32 valve, 4.6L, 315 HP, modular electronic fuel injected (EFI) engine with Ford Racing electrical harness and ECU. A custom cold air intake and filter was placed for increased efficiency. The engine has a custom tune.
- The transmission is a Tremec TK-56 Magnum 6-speed. The gearing is 2.66/1.78/1.3/1.0/0.8/0.64 with a reverse light and reverse lockout controller. A QuickTime bellhousing and Centerforce clutch were used with a hydraulic clutch and clutch safety switch. A custom billet shifter and Tremec 6-speed shifter ball were installed.
- Power steering with Breeze rack extenders was installed and uses the standard Ford Mustang hydraulic pump.
- Hydroboost power brakes with dual master cylinder and CNC triple reservoirs with a custom powder coated mount were installed.
- Air Conditioning (A/C) and a heater/defrost kit from Vintage Air were installed using the standard Ford Mustang compressor on the 4.6L engine. Professional and custom A/C hoses were made. The A/C blows real cold in summer and the heater produces great heat when it’s cool outside. There is a multivent box under each side of the dash for the driver and another for the passenger along with two defrost vents to the top of the dash.
- Independent rear suspension (IRS) with limited slip traction lok aluminum 8.8 differential and 3.27 gears and 500 lb Koni coil-over shocks was installed. Breeze Automotive “Seals-It” Koni spring thrust bearings were used along with Forte IRS control arm adjusters to quickly change rear set-up for racing. Whitby IRS spherical bearings were also placed if the car is to tracked.
- Front and rear anti-sway bars from Vintage Performance were powder coated red and installed. These prevent any sway and would be perfect for track days.
- Vintage Performance rear differential aluminum bushings were installed.
- Independent front suspension with Koni coil-over shocks were installed.
- Brake lines were custom bent using Cunifer metal, which will never rust. Cunifer is used on high-end sports cars and is a copper-nickel-iron alloy and a DOT approved brake line.
- Setrab oil cooler was installed in the front oil cooler opening.
- Aeroquip steel Teflon lined stainless hoses and AQP elastomer lined stainless fuel hose were used throughout.
- Aeroquip AN fittings were used all around.
- American muscle chrome power steering cap, oil cap and throttle body cover were installed to liven up the engine bay.
- A Walpro in-tank fuel pump was installed and can produce 190 LPH (50.2 GPH), which can handle up to a 540 HP engine. Summit Racing billet fuel filter 10 micron with billet bracket was installed.
- A FFMetal thicker firewall was used to prevent flexing.
- A Forte driveshaft safety hoop was installed in case the drive shaft was ever compromised.
- A custom mounted Lokar chrome e-brake was installed on the top back right of the transmission cover, which is a better place then on the passenger side of the transmission tunnel.
- Lucas wipers and wiper harness were installed to be DMV compliant.
- A Summit Racing fuel pressure gauge and bypass regulator were installed in the engine bay.
- All radiator hoses have stainless steel braid sleeves and chrome adapters to brighten the engine compartment.
- The headers have copper wrap and Thermo-Tec heat sleeves to keep the engine bay and cockpit cool.
Exterior
- The wheels and Tires are American Racing Torq Thrust M chrome wheels: 17 x 9” front and 17 x 10.5” rear with Nitto 555 275/40 R17 front and 315/35 R17 rear.
- A custom premium convertible soft top with side curtains was made and is manufactured with wood framing and aluminum powder coated bows which are fully adjustable. It does not leak air or water and is great to use in the rain and cooler weather.
- FFR Lexan wind wings and sun visors were installed.
- Fast Freddies lexan windshield was installed to prevent any cracks from developing.
- FinishLine polished chrome stainless steel quick jacks bumpers are currently on the car for a clean look. Polished stainless front and rear hoop bumpers and chrome over-riders also come with the car and can be easily installed.
- Polished aluminum brake duct screens were installed in the front.
- Polished stainless side exhaust pipes with chrome perforated heat shields were placed so people don’t have to worry about hot exhaust pipes when exiting car.
- Driver and passenger chrome roll bars with polished bezels were installed along with Tangent blind roll bar connectors so the bars did not have to be drilled and no bolts are visible.
- AC Interiors front and rear wheel well liners were installed for a professional finished look. One front liner is torn.
- All panels, parts and frame were powder coated semi-gloss black for a professional look and to prevent rust and oxidation.
- Breeze Automotive 4” driver and passenger side mirrors were attached to wind wings.
- Breeze Automotive stainless steel hood prop was installed.
- Breeze Automotive radiator cowl cover was shined, sealed, and installed to give a finished look to the engine bay.
- Breeze Automotive fuel tank big bore vent check valve was installed to prevent leakage when cornering and for better venting.
- A custom car cover comes with the car.
- A professionally made custom snapless tonneau cover was bought for those sunny and hot days.
- SoFast racing fan shroud was placed around engine fan for better cooling.
- Front side custom stainless steel louvers were installed.
- Replica Parts front license plate bracket was used which does not require drilling into the body.
- Replica Parts radiator front opening aluminum filler panel was powder coated silver and installed to give a finished look.
Interior
- A custom and thick aluminum dash was CNC cut and covered with a burled walnut veneer which was epoxy clear coat sealed. Only gauge cutouts were cut into the dash in a curved pattern which is very aesthetically pleasing. There are no switches on the dash which gives a very clean look. An AC Interiors glove box was installed in the dash and covered with burled walnut.
- A custom burled walnut transmission cover with aluminum trim was made and a stainless steel drink holder was installed.
- Herb’s Custom door panels with burled walnut inserts were made to match the dash and seats and were installed on each door to give a complete look.
- Cobra Heat driver and passenger seat heaters were installed (seat bottoms and backs) and are great for those cool driving days.
- FFR floor mats were placed over high-end black carpet throughout the cockpit, trunk, and storage compartments.
- The cockpit has sound deadener under carpet and all panels were seam sealed.
- Breeze Automotive tilt and adjustable seat mounts were powder coated and installed to provide a better sitting angle and to provide more room for drivers with longer legs.
- A chrome fire extinguisher was mounted on the back wall between the seats.
- The firewall was insulated on both sides to prevent ingress of heat into cockpit from the engine bay.
- The driver’s and passenger’s foot compartments were widened to provide more room.
- A FFR complete kit was bought.
- Chrome defrost vents were installed on the dash.
- A custom cockpit storage compartment on the back wall behind seats was made.
- Casey Design custom billet aluminum door hinges were installed.
- A custom polished aluminum trunk interior access cover was made.
- Custom trunk dropped storage boxes with powder coated and hinged lids were made that sit above fuel tank for extra storage and to prevent things from rolling around the trunk.
- Trunk lid lift support gas struts were installed to keep the trunk lid open.
- Replica Parts aluminum seat bezels were installed.
- Replica Parts vinyl shift boot was installed.
- Replica Parts turn signal bezel was installed.
Electrical
The Cobra’s electrics are controlled with the ISIS Intelligent Multiplex System (www.isispower.com). This computer control system controls all electrical systems (starting, fuel pump, lighting, A/C, heating, seat heater, fans) and can be controlled from an iPhone. It has a custom touch screen control panel beneath the center dash and is housed in custom burled walnut mounting box. The control computers in engine bay and trunk. This allows no switches to be placed on the dash for a very clean look. All switching is done on the touch panel. The sides of the mounting box have two 12-volt outlets on the passenger side. This system allows much less wiring which saves weight, is fully programmable and if there ever is an electrical or mechangical fault it will diagnose its location. In addition, an ISIS active battery monitoring system, mega fuse set, and a total car kill button were installed for safety and to prevent theft and any potential electrical short/fire.
The gauges are high-end Speedhut Revolution series (www.speedhut.com) and include: 4” speedometer, 4” tachometer, water temperature gauge, oil pressure gauge, voltometer, fuel level gauge, vacuum gauge, oil temperature gauge. These are fully programmable with a white Eurostyle font, reverse blue glow lighting, chrome bezels, red lighted pointers, and Ford Racing logos. The speedometer goes to 160 MPH and is GPS based with turn signal and high beam indicators. It includes the following digital information on a LCD screen: ¼ mile time, 0-60 mph time, mileage/trip, clock, speed digital, peak mph, elevation, and direction. The tachometer maximum is 8,000 RPM with programmable shift point indicators and max peak. The water temperature and oil pressure gauges can be set to low and high warnings and recalls low and max peak. The fuel gauge can be set to low fuel warning light.
- Russ’s Garage self-cancelling turn signal arm was mounted on steering column as an update to the switch on the dash.
- Lucas tripod style front halogen lights with stainless steel mesh racing stone guards were installed for better lighting and visibility.
- Turn signal and parking lights are all LED’s for better visibility.
- A Hella high mount LED third brake light was mounted on the body between the roll bars for increased brake light visibility.
- Clear front maker lenses were installed to give a Eurostyle look.
- Breeze Automotive engine compartment battery tray was placed instead of the battery in the trunk, which provides a more central weight distribution.
- A custom built and functional billet horn button was installed in the center of the steering wheel.
- All electrical wire connections were soldered and covered with heat shrink material.
