CSX4322 is an aluminum body version built by Kirkham and supplied to Shelby American. It was then fitted with traditional, exact ’65 Shelby suspension, Wilwood brakes and aluminum 3.54 differential. It also has a correct Top Loader 4 speed transmission.
CSX4322 has an aluminum FE427 block displacing 510 cubic inches. The engine was built by Southern Automotive and the dyno sheets show nearly 600 horse power and 610 FT LB of torque.
Of course, the car carries the correct Shelby emblems, correct Smiths gauges along with the correct Shelby pedals and removable steering wheel. The car is in the Shelby Registry with all the rights and privileges of a Shelby built vehicle.
This car carries no stripes and has black sidepipes with a chrome roll bar.
The aluminum coachwork is custom painted in a rich dark metallic blue. The Phantom Roadster was a Limited Edition CSX4000-Series special release Shelby Cobra, offered thru Sanderson Sales, Texas, in conjunction w/Shelby American, Las Vegas. Ten of these Cobras were scheduled to be produced—each featuring its own distinctive Phantom paint job and a Cobra ghost-painted on each side of the car. In the end, there were only two of these Cobras ever produced, each listed in SAAC's Shelby World Registry. The first was built for Carroll Shelby and presented to him on his 80th birthday. This car was the second, and the last one built. It was also is the only one with Shelby’s name ghost-painted on the hood, which was an option. The trunk is finished out in polished aluminum.
The car has a fresh set of Avon Radial tires and rides beautifully.
