Bill, I don't know the answer to your question, but you had such a great quote ("no surprises at the limit") in there that I had to respond. Yokos are great tires and they give you plenty of warning before they start to break away. Avons are better tires, but when they let loose, they really let loose. For those of us who are not as skilled as, say, the Kirkham bros., a tire that lets you know well in advance that it is going to break can be better than a tire that sticks more, but gives less notice. I don't think I've seen that mentioned around here much.
