Unhappy Curse you Zderf:

Why did you have to go and blow out your rear end. If you had only kept your foot out of it, my life would be so much better (Cheaper) now.

After your "problem", I got serious about having a look at what was going on in the third member. There is a very good shop here in town called "Virge's"and Ray, the owner does a lot of custom work and is well thought of. He incidently does all his rear end work through Dan at N.W. Diff, where you got your work done.

What we found was pretty much the same thing you found and what I fear a lot of folks will find if they look closely. We have to replace nearly everthing. The stuff that was in there was your basic Junk Yard ,"That oughta work Bob" kind of parts. Badly worn and mismatched. The "posi" was only "somewhat" sure of itself and was living in a bath of lube that was totally wrong. The gears were chipped and worn etc. etc. ad nausium.

So the whole thing will be new with 31 spline axles (hardened). Even am throwing caution to the wind and installing a new Rack and Pinion so the car will perhaps steer better! As you said, the next owner will be getting a very good car.

Happy Holidays everyone,

Bish
