I paid about $1500 for NY to CA transport. Several sources warned me off cheaper transport options - insurance, reliability, other problems. My Cobra arrived in a closed transport with a very competent operator and was vinyl-wrapped end to end. He unloaded it, unwrapped and dusted it, walked me around it and pointed out about six virtually invisible rock chips, a hairline nick in one wheel, etc. that had been recorded at loading.
