I am a huge fan of the MKIV however they are sort of the read headed step child of the Cobra group. They were a car built by Brian Angliss in the 80's and 90's. They were sold via Ford Dealers here in the US. They are registered in SAAC registry....
Are they real?
They are real AC however not recognized by most US Vintage race or show as original. For example at Limerock Rolex Festival they are considered replicas of sort.
Are they exact?
Not really, they used updates to improve crash protection and a bit more glass on the underside. Interiors used a bit more artistic liberty.
They were factory built cars and in my opinion top notch ally cars. Just don't pay REAL pricing as they are not a Shelby..... Lightweight cars usually fetch more as they were true to the original. I prefer the carb cars to FI, easier to upgrade.
I have seen cars as low as 40k a few years back to 6 figures in the early 2000 era, typical sale prices range from 50k-65k not much more than they did off the showroom floor at Ford. Collectable factor? Only time will tell, keep in mind it is not a Shelby...
Best of luck!
