The cars need an expansion tank because the radiator is lower than the engine. Also, it is a good idea to have a tank to get air out of the system. The original 289 car put the tank on top of the leaf spring tower but on many replicas, there simply isn't room for the tank there.

As for original engine looks...if the car doesn't have an original leaf-spring chassis then I don't get too excited anyway about how exactly correct the engine is.

Our tank is very easy to use, just bolt it on. Also, it allows us to use the 427 radiator and 427 radiator tubing so we don't have to go rooting around the hose section of the parts house. The 427 tubing is pretty easy to adapt to other makes as well.

The biggest advantage, however, is getting rid of the crazy leaking problem.
