It looks like that from the angle of the pic but the cable is not zipped to the hardline. That is a 'rub strip' where the engaged cable comes close to the pinion flange. It's 2" away when the flange is turning

My first pic shows the rub strip made from fuel line, only without the zips. It's just zipped to the cable.

Appreciate your concern. It's worked fine since 1985...

You guys (which always means just you) should create a 'TSB' page on the ERA site showing all the updates from 002 on up to the present. I've done the majors but found out about those by 'word of mouth' over the years. I know I don't need these springs as the e-brake always releases cleanly. But the aluminum rad, Tilton masters, big brake fronts and ventilated rear rotors were all sure worthwhile. Doing fine without the wiring improvements however.

Besides, we all know you need more to do around there...
