Just got the garage cleared out enough to restart the rebuilding of my Kirkham 427SC, after stopping work in 2005. Life just doesn't cooperate sometimes. At the rate I type, I hope I can get posts completed before I time out.
To bring everyone up to speed, I bought the car from a dealer who specializes in burned Jaguars and on his shopping trips ends up with finds from Ferraries(sp?) to Rolls, to complete collections. I bought a 1987 XJS with a dropped valve (overheated) from him some years ago, and was at his shop when I spotted the Cobra under a tarp. Rear end peaking out. I pulled the cover of the front and saw substansial fire damage . Continued looking and noticed: 1, ALUMINUM BODY ! (HOLY CR@P !!,a REAL ONE, I thought)
2, An ALUMINUM block & heads! This was no replica or kit car, or so I thought at the time. Asked the dealer about it and he told me it was a Kirkham, but he didn't know much about them. Went home and did the research, and long story short, ended up buying it! That was 2001, and I took it to my shop and started to disassemble it.
I'm going to stop now and post this before I time out. Does any one know what that time limit might be? I hate typing long stories only to lose the whole thing when I hit "submit"
