Default Glove box knob

Supposedly, the "correct" glove box knob is a low T-handle. Cobra Restorers has them for $75, or about $73 more than the round chrome knob my car and most I've seen use.

I haven't found many pictures of original cars with glove boxes, and two that I did... used the round handle. Maybe this was a late replacement, as the T-handle seems quite hard to get.

Is the T-handle actually correct, and for which cars - all of the street cars with glove boxes? 289s? 427 streets?
