Al, I have a NAF, not an AC but I do run a 496 BBC. You could probably get the car to go as fast on a road coarse with a healthy 383, due to the reduced weight, BUT, it won't have the stump pulling, corn plowing torque that 572 has. A really big motor makes for a great street machine without needing to be very radical. You will have some issues with the tall block installation, but to my thinking, it would be worth it.
