Thirty years ago, Dean, we were on the verge of losing real cars forever - the era of the Mustang II, the 160HP Vette, the Chevy Monza Sport... it wasn't prescience, it was looking doom in the face.
I think we have a better future now that they've learned to build very low emission engines with no power compromise. Ten years from now 1-litre 140HP cars might be the norm, but we won't be in the horrible state we were in the mid-70s. (Police Interceptor 460: 172HP, 285 FPT... auuughhh!)
