That, or many of them are more into the building than the driving. It's an odd mentality that leads to spending a couple of years meticulously building a car, and then enjoys going out and actually, you know, wearing some of that meticulousness off. I think a lot of cars are built by hobby-craftsmen who may or may not ultimately care all that much for driving them, hence the overbuilds with concours-quality chrome, paint, polish etc., sold with very few miles to make room for the next craft project.
