Fuel Hose
Over the past couple of weeks I have had the car up on jack stands repairing the shifter control box and doing a general cleaning and wiping down of the chassis and undercarriage. I also decided to replace the fuel lines to the Webers. I checked and rechecked all the clamps and tightened the banjo bolts securely. I started it up just as my wife distracted me as she came out in the garage. I looked away for a few seconds to answer her question and when my focus returned to the engine fuel was leaking at a very good rate from the LF carb fuel union with the engine running.
I quickly shut it down and realized some fuel had leaked onto the top of the (now warm) header flanges. I hurridly wiped up the fuel and investigated what the problem was. One of the fuel union gaskets had a thin layer torn when it was disassembled and it could not reseal. It could have been a real ugly moment, but all is well. I replaced ALL the fuel union gaskets and took it out for a run. Great spring weather, loud exhaust and wind in my thinning hair.......life is good.
