Cracking rubber boots seems to be a common occurance. Sometimes its caused by over filling with grease (the increased pressure makes them pop) or just crap rubber.

If your not worried about looks you might be able to use heaps of Cling wrap and rubber bands around the outside of the old boot. It would probably last longer. Then again its a Cobra so you probably are worried about looks right!
