DV or anybody else who might know, I have the 8" rear end on my CR. It's also known as the baby 9. I need to make some repairs or up grades and want to consider an upgrade to an 8.8. Currently my 8 has a limited slip but needs rebuilding, also it's got 411 gears which I want 3.75 or 3.50 also drum brakes which I want disc, and the housing may have a slight bend in it. Since all these items add up to fix $$, I'm thinking of going to an 8.8 or 9". I have 57 1/2" from the inside wheel to the inside wheel or brake drum to brake drum. What rear should I be looking for or are all the upper and lower arms, shock mounts all custom installed to fit the CR? Or is the rear a direct bolt on unit that fits the CR, from a specific year car or truck? Thanks for your replies.
