Default FYI "Kart racing at Lime Rock" sounds cool

Someone sent this to me in an email and thought some here might be interested:

Endurance Karting’s 10th Year at Lime Rock Park
First dates: May 14 and 15

Wanna race karts on the big autocross course at Lime Rock Park? Do it with Endurance Karting!

All karts are provided and rental safety gear is available on site. No experience necessary, no special racing license required, and it’s not just for kids: our average age is 39! Endurance Karting uses the Lime Rock autocross tracks.

Endurance Karting is taking registrations for its Friday, May 14 one-day Kart Race School. This program lays the foundation for good kart-control skills you need for racing. The primary instruction tool is seat time with feedback. Skill-sets covered are “the racing line,” kart control, side-by-side racing, and passing. Other parts of the program include a track walk and mini-race sessions. Participants all get a minimum of 1.5 hours of seat time.

Saturday, May 15 is all about racing, with three 1.5-hour races in one day! You can race in one, two or all three races: it’s your day to come have FUN! Endurance races are in a team format, with a recommendation of two or three drivers per team. The format is a 20-minute practice, with the fastest lap of each kart determining the starting-grid position. In the duration of the 1.5 hour race, each team must complete five driver changes. Teams compete in one of six race classes; Rookie, Semi-Pro, Pro, GT40, 40Pro and Big Boy. Live scoring is displayed throughout the race, including detailed information such as overall position and position-in-class. Starting times for Endurance Races are 8:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and 2:00 p.m. Individual drivers are welcome – we will match you up with others to complete a team!

What is Endurance Karting: Endurance Karting offers a true arrive and race format, meaning all the karts are provided (no damage liability on the customer side). One-day kart race schools and 1.5-hour races are scheduled for three weekends in 2010.

Who can race: No experience is necessary. No special license required. Who says karting is only for kids? The average age of our racers is 39; minors can participate (see below), of course.
