I do agree with you about there being soooo many chevy small blocks out there and see your point. I suppose that there are some people who like these cars, but just want to drive them without all the fuss that comes with the older style engine setups. Yes, that's half the fun to some people, but not everyone. I'd rather see them try to stuff a new GT500 engine under the hood if they want new tech rather than a Chevy.
