I, er...uh...have a "friend" who has this same problem. His solution was a cat bed (so the cat stays in one place) and a waterproof (fur balls are very wet!) pad (4'x4') on top of the cobra cover but under the cat bed. Also make sure the cat has an easy way up or their claws hitting the exact same place will eventually tear a hole in the cover.

My "friend" also has washed the cover (Noah fabric) with a bottle of Fantastic and it came out like new.
