if your car is exposed to freezing temps. and you dont want to drain your rad. every year then run a mix that will keep your coolant from turning to ice.....and yes it will crack your block....if your not around freezing temps. then run distilled water and water wetter and a good corosion inhibitor like super anti-rust....
80% water 15% ww and 5% anti rust that should keep your cooling system operating at its best along with a coolant recovery tank.
