Well the problem was that the machine shop that assembled the engine put both head gaskets on backwards ie: the left and right head gaskets had the water passages blocked at the rear of the heads. My machinist (Steve Carbones) here in Tulsa tells me it is a common mistake usually made by those who normally build Chevy engines. So I have taken my heads over to Carbone's to be magnafluxed and when I get them back I will pick up another set of top end gaskets (Felpro) and re-assemble the beast. $65.00 for the magnaflux and probably about $75.00 for head gaskets.
