As a professional mechanic you don't need to own the same kind of car you work on. That's the part you don't get. I've worked on hundreds of cars over the years and most of them I didn't ever own one just like it.
Take the SPF with the engine/trans out. It is enough to see the construction, what's involved, inspect the parts, consult with the owner to determine this is not as simple as you would have a new owner believe.
Kirkham suspension is virtually identical to the original Cobra suspension. If your a mechanic, it's not rocket science to talk to an owner and determine if he has the necessary skill set to proceed with the repair. Or, he needs to take his vehicle to a qualified mechanic with expertise in that area. THAT would be ME, all though I've never owned an original or a Kirkham. I've never owned a Ferrari either, but I've worked on several of them.
