Doug, FWIW on my 4160 I don't completely remove my choke, just a chunk of it. You can see here that it's zip tied in the full open position, but most of the linkage is gone. Supposedly, Holley says you shouldn't remove the butterfly valve, that leaving it there improves performance -- I don't know whether that's true or not. It could be just BS.
