Post Ground Wire

The smaller wire will act as a choke (restriction) and become VERY
hot. Use the same cable size ie: 1 or 0, as the amp draw with the standard starter is quite high. Consider one of the mini-starters offered by one of several manufacturers. They draw considerebly less current, weigh less and are more powerfull and are smaller.
