Even when you open it safely with the radiator cap you still have to wait for the coolant to cool down in an attempt to burb the air so you can fill more. The way I propose is you fill the system and it ensures no air, you fill it once and you are done, no going back and topping off. Only fill to about 1 inch above the divider plate in overflow tank or it will burp some off.
