Great trip indeed !
A few years ago I was doing a roadtrip in the US with a buddy, and we were planning to take Trail Ridge Road (US34 I believe) through the Rockies (Granby to Denver). Maybe that's a good way to head back home?
We had to cancel that part of the trip because the pass was closed by snow. Still hope to do it some day
