Sucking oil through the PCV does not sound normal at all. I have one on the same engine and no such symptom.

I use tall valve covers, so the PCV is well above the oil level even at high rpm. This valve cover has the internal baffle just below the PCV to prevent the mist from being sucked out by the PCV. Perhaps your valve cover doesn't have the baffle?
