That's not a "button" problem. All the button or your key switch does is activate the coil inside the starter contactor to allow the battery to provide power to the starter. One is not superior to the other in this regard.
Have a button or a toggle switch activate your starter is easy to do and easy to wire and I contend, less complicated than a keyed switch. As a security measure I'm pairing my switch up to a remote controlled battery disconnect switch. Switch it off and the car is locked. Switch it on, and the start button works.
