Wire brushes in the Dremel tool and 600 grit sand paper. It probably took about as long as it would take to change the fittings themselves but the results are pretty nice looking. The anodization comes off reasonably easy and leaves beautiful bright raw aluminum. That is starting to oxidize over now and leaving a very cool "old style" look.
