You may want to check out OEM tanks for foreign cars with the filler on the right side. Just look up the tank on a site like Autozone or someplace like that and they will usually give the measurments. How much room do you have between the frame rails? Would a Mustang tank fit?
Sounds like you're making good progress at the project so far.
