I looked at your car in your photo area and that engine looks better than awesome. I'll assume you don't intend to race it, just hook up better on the street. I would not go with 17" rims, as that would ruin the look of your Cobra. I use Kuhmo tires (recommended size) on both my ERA Cobra and BMW M3, and have no issues with them hooking up, although I expect you have tons more torque in that cammer than I have. Yokohamas are great too, thay just wear out fast. Watch out for too much traction (with racing tires), which may cause you to break driveline parts. Better to smoke 'em a little than to bend or break expensive driveshafts and halfshafts. Removing/disconnecting the rear sway bar will soften up the rear suspension, which helps out too (unless it's a track car). Good luck.
