Passenger side meant to mean cockpit side rather than engine side. 7/16 is fairly thick but you might want to have an over sized 1/8 or 3/16 plate on the cockpit side and also make some brackets to bolt it in from above. The fire wall flexing when you step on the clutch or brake can be an issue in these fiberglass cars.
