Carroll Shelby to receive Automotive News Lifetime Achievement Award, Jan 27

Carroll Shelby will receive the 2011 Keith Crain/Automotive News Lifetime Achievement Award on Jan 27 (Thu), 2011, at the Washington Auto Show.
The award is given annually to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the auto industry. Previous winners include auto safety pioneer Ralph Nader and U.S. Rep. John Dingell, D-Mich.
Of course Shelby is famous for creating the Cobra and the Shelby Mustangs, for making a winner of Ford's GT40, and for inspiring designs for American sports cars for decades.
