Firing is dictated by the camshaft, the firing order should be listed on the "Cam Card". --

however a 351W camshaft, installed 180 off will run with a 289 firing order, - just not well. -- had a customer drive in after he installed his camshaft, and read the firing order on his intake and used that. ( cam was indexed 180 off )
