Kinsler
Here is a shot of a mechanical Lucas/McKay SBC (sorry!), with the more modern use of high injectors for better mixing and straight-shot intake pipes.
7 liter SBC, broad peak of 730 hp @ 7000, 650 torque @ 5000. But, more importantly, over 600 ft.lb. from 4400 to 6400 (!) and over 700 hp from 5700 to 7500 rpm! This is an iron block SBC, stroked to 7 liters with cup internals, of course. Cost ten years ago? $47K
There was no need to run this engine above 7500 in a race, but if the track was big, like Daytona, i would not hesitate to spin this to 8000 in high gear straights if needed to win the race.
But, EFI Kinsler for sale here is actually much better to tune and set-up, once the engine is sensored-up and you are along the learning curve a bit. The mechanical Kinsler does stay in tune, even better than the Webers, of course. i would imagine the same for an EFI setup but have no hands-on experience.
