I failed to weigh my engine prior to dressing it, but the engine (460, alum heads, intake, waterpump) fully dressed (carb, alt, starter, flywheel, press plate, distrib ....) plus the Tremec tranny bolted to the back, all ready to drop in the car, sat on the scales at 795 pounds. I know the clutch, press plate and aluminum flywheel weigh 40 pounds right on the nose. Don't know about the tranny.

So my comparably configured FE with a 125# C-6 behind it comes in at 645 pounds (no fluid in trans), or 150 pounds less?
This explains a few things.
I really do forget, what's the bromide comparison for pounds-saved to HP-equivalent?
