Chevy has been using that formula for decades. Those that recall the birth of the original solid lifter, 11:1 compression LT-1 350 will recall that this motor in the 1970 Corvette was rated at 370HP. The same motor in the Z28 was rated at 360HP. A different ignition system and exhaust headers was the attributed difference for the 10HP. And so that is why the 1970 Z28 (often called a 70 1/2 because of its late introduction) was fondly remembered as the poor man's Corvette.

The new ZL1 is exactly that, but now we can call it the poor man's Z06/ZR1. Either way, would be fun to drive and with drag radials should be solidly in the 11's.
