Thanks for the response. I didn't realize the stripes were put down first. Is that always the case?

I totally lack experience painting cars. However, my son has a 69 Firebird that needs a lot of bodywork and paint. Might be a good place to practice.

Care to reveal what colors you used? Did you get the overall appearance you had expected?
